Homework Information
Students will receive all homework for the week on Monday and it will be due on Friday. Homework will be located in the student’s daily folders which have a behavior log attached, so they will return to school each day. If the homework is left in the folder, it will not be checked until Friday.
Our homework in second grade focuses on many areas: Literacy and Math
Math:
Math homework will be given based on the activities and objectives that were completed in class. Some weeks, there will be 1 math sheet per day and other weeks there will be less based on the lessons we have completed in class.
Letterland/Spelling:
There will be an OPTIONAL letterland spelling calendar that will be kept in your child's folder and their spelling list for the week.
Reading:
One of many important things you can do with your child to help them succeed in school is to listen to them read and to read to them. Listening to them read provides them with an opportunity to practice reading and improve their fluency. I hope that you also continue to read challenging books to your child each evening and share the joy of reading with them. This is the best way to inspire them to want to read more! Please utilize our school library and the public library. *Students will have a book log in their folders so that you can track all the books they are reading and books you have read to them. Please make sure to read 10 minutes with your child every night.
*Throughout the year I will send home assignments that will allow students to create posters, graphs, maps, design, build and explore. Directions and projects will be sent on a separate sheet of paper.
Please let me know if you have ANY questions or concerns. I would be happy to discuss them with you!
